Case Study of Water-Fertilizer Integration Filtration System for High-Standard Farmland in Henan

A high-standard farmland project in Henan adopts a complete head configuration consisting of an automatic backwashing disc filtration system, Venturi fertilizer applicator and exhaust valve, realizing integrated management of irrigation and fertilization with remarkable water and fertilizer saving effects.

In a high-standard farmland construction project in Henan, the project owner adopted the water-fertilizer integrated irrigation mode, which put forward dual requirements of water quality filtration and precise fertilization for the head system. The water source of the project is motor-pumped well water with relatively good water quality, but it is necessary to prevent impurities from entering the drip irrigation pipe network and realize precise fertilization.

The finally determined head configuration scheme is as follows: the automatic backwashing disc filtration system is responsible for fine water quality filtration, the Venturi fertilizer applicator realizes water-fertilizer mixing, the matched exhaust valve ensures smooth exhaust of the pipe network, and the pressure sustaining valve maintains stable pressure for filtration and fertilization equipment. The whole set of system is uniformly managed by the irrigation controller, realizing timed, quantitative and zoned irrigation and fertilization.

After the project was put into use, the irrigation uniformity and fertilization accuracy have been significantly improved. Compared with traditional irrigation and fertilization methods, it saves about 40% of water and about 30% of fertilizer, and the crop yield and quality are improved simultaneously. High-standard farmland projects have high requirements for the reliability and automation degree of head equipment, and the system configuration scheme in this case provides replicable experience for similar projects.
