How to Use a Venturi Fertilizer Injector and Adjust Its Fertilizer Suction Rate

A Venturi fertilizer injector can draw fertilizer solution into irrigation pipelines without external power. When using it, maintain a pressure difference of 0.5-1bar, control the fertilizer suction rate via the regulating valve, and pay attention to fertilizer filtration and pipeline flushing.

The Venturi fertilizer injector is an economical fertigation device that applies the Venturi principle to achieve integrated water and fertilizer delivery. Requiring no external power, it features a simple structure and stable fertilization concentration, and is widely used in greenhouse irrigation, fruit tree irrigation and field crop irrigation.

Working Principle: The Venturi fertilizer injector is installed in parallel on the main irrigation pipeline. During operation, appropriately turn down the valve on the main pipeline to create a 0.5-1bar pressure difference between the upstream and downstream of the valve. When water flows through the branch pipe where the injector is installed, the flow velocity accelerates and pressure drops at the narrow throat section to form negative pressure, which draws fertilizer solution from the suction port into the pipeline to mix with irrigation water.

Usage Instructions: First, ensure proper installation: the injector shall be installed in parallel on the main pipeline to guarantee sufficient pressure difference. Second, fertilizer solution must be fully dissolved and filtered to prevent impurities from clogging the fertilizer suction port. Third, control the fertilizer suction rate via the regulating valve on the suction pipe, and flexibly adjust the fertilization concentration according to the fertilizer demand pattern of crops. Fourth, flush the pipeline with clean water after fertilization is completed, to prevent equipment clogging caused by residual fertilizer crystallization.

When selecting a model, choose an appropriate injector specification based on the main pipeline flow: an undersized injector will restrict fertilization flow, while an oversized one will lead to increased pressure loss. The injector can also be connected to a solenoid valve to realize automatic fertilization, and work with an irrigation controller to achieve timed and quantitative fertilization.
