Automatic backwash disc filters have been widely used in large-scale irrigation projects due to their advantages of no manual cleaning and low maintenance cost. However, some common faults may also occur during long-term operation, and timely troubleshooting and handling can ensure the stable operation of the system.
Common Fault 1: Backwashing fails to start. The causes may include improper controller settings, faulty pressure difference switch or damaged solenoid valve. During troubleshooting, first check whether the controller program and time settings are correct, then check whether the pressure difference switch is stuck and whether the wiring is loose, and finally check whether the backwash solenoid valve operates normally.
Common Fault 2: Incomplete backwashing. It is mostly caused by insufficient backwashing pressure or too short backwashing time. You should check whether the system water supply pressure meets the backwashing requirements, appropriately extend the backwashing time, and check whether the sewage discharge pipeline is blocked if necessary.
Common Fault 3: Continuously high pressure difference. It may be caused by worn disc filter elements or serious pollutant scaling, and the filter elements need to be removed for thorough cleaning or replacement; it may also be caused by the lack of primary filtration at the front end, with a large amount of sediment directly entering the disc filter, and it is recommended to install a centrifugal or sand filter.
Daily maintenance suggestions: Regularly observe the reading of the pressure difference gauge and keep good operation records; drain the accumulated water in the filter and pipelines when shutting down in winter; check the condition of the filter elements once every quarter to ensure long-term efficient operation of the system.
